Project Goals

In April of 2016, American Procurement Services was awarded a contract from the United Nations to supply and deliver office furniture, IT equipment and office supplies to accommodate the Garment Technology Training Center in Caracol, Cap-Hatien, Haiti. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Haiti had a project aiming to train the people of Haiti in Garment Technologies with the use of ICT Equipment. Not only did this provide life long skills to Haitians, but also met the great demand of the garment industry in Haiti while decreasing unemployment and increasing the people’s wages.

Scope of the Supply

American Procurement Services (APSCO) was able to fulfill the facility’s needs in regards to office furniture, IT equipment and office supplies. The variety of the items ordered was so vast that APSCO had to source the products from over 15 different partners, which included brands such as Canon, HP, Triplite, Epson, Lenovo, Cisco, Fluke, Rubbermaid, GE, Pendaflex, Expo, and Frigidaire. All of the products were consolidated into two shipments, one from the US and another from their manufacturing partners warehouse in China.

The majority of items from the US shipment were brought to APSCO’s facility, where they were individually inspected, labeled and where re-packed for export. Though it was a time consuming task, APSCO succeeded and was able to have items in Port-au-Prince within three months. The items supplied under the contract included computers, hardware, software, printers, presentation materials, IT tools, UPS systems, stationery, filing/folders, organizational tools, appliances, and custodial supplies.
