In October of 2015, American Procurement Services(APSCO) won a contract funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Myanmar for the supply of Portable Digital X-Ray Machine and accessories. This project provided five Digital X-Ray Machines to National Tuberculosis Centers throughout Myanmar including; Yangon, Bago, Dawei, Mawlamyine and Mandalay.
Tuberculosis is the fourth prevalent disease in Myanmar and remains a major national health concern for the Ministry of Health. Weak health care access and limited resources in the past did not allow early detection and diagnosis of TB, but funding from organizations like the United Nations, detection and care have improved greatly in the last 10 years.
American Procurement Services and manufacturing partner, Source Ray Inc., provided the X-Ray Machines with digital upgrades within 6 weeks to Yangon, Myanmar’s capital. APSCO’s local logistics team, CEA Projects – Myanmar completed custom clearance and coordinated the local delivery to the five TB Centers. CEA Projects also had their service technician visit all five sites to provide onsite assembly, installation and training to radiographers.
APSCO coordinated communication with all parties for the successful implementation of this contract. Through they came across logistical challenges through the monsoon season, they were able to execute the contract and satisfy their end users.
