American Procurement Services providing digital X-Ray Equipment for diagnostics and helping to flight Tuberculosis in Myanmar

Project Goals

In October of 2015, American Procurement Services(APSCO) won a contract funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Myanmar for the supply of Portable Digital X-Ray Machine and accessories.  This project provided five Digital X-Ray Machines to National Tuberculosis Centers throughout Myanmar including; Yangon, Bago, Dawei, Mawlamyine and Mandalay.

Tuberculosis is the fourth prevalent disease in Myanmar and remains a major national health concern for the Ministry of Health.  Weak health care access and limited resources in the past did not allow early detection and diagnosis of TB, but funding from organizations like the United Nations, detection and care have improved greatly in the last 10 years.

The Scope of the Supply

APSCO and manufacturer, Source Ray Inc, supplied the digital X-Ray units to include some unique features required by the end-users. Under this contract, APSCO was obligated to supply, deliver and install the equipment, including training of the end users at National Tuberculosis Centers in five regions. The challenges were in surmountable because some of these locations were not accessible via vehicles and they cover vast geographic landscape. These National Tuberculosis Centers were located in Yangon, Bago, Dawei, Mawlamyine, and Mandalay.

APSCO collaborated with their local Myanmar agent who was able to provide after sales services including installation, commissioning and training to the end user. In addition, they carried out the local transportation of the equipment to the 5 states. Throughout the production process, APSCO provided a bi-weekly update report to the UNOPS-Myanmar on the status of the order. APSCO provided alerts to UNOPS of any potential problem or delay, as well as necessary step to mitigate.   American Procurement Services and its manufacturing partner, Source Ray Inc., provided the X-Ray Machines with digital upgrades within 6 weeks to Yangon. APSCO’s local logistics team, CEA – Myanmar, did the custom clearance and delivered the equipment to the five TB Centers. Under the guardiancy of APSCO. Our local Agent installed, commissioned and trained the end-users at all five locations in Myanmar.
